What are chemical peels?

Chemical peels use FDA-approved chemical solutions to exfoliate the outermost skin cell layers, allowing newer, younger-looking cells to generate. The procedure is highly effective for diminishing bothersome signs of aging. Chemical peels are safe and effective for all types of skin. They range in strength from superficial to deep.

Are chemical peels right for me?

This process is tailored to your individual skin type and goals. The Signature Med Spa team determines if chemical peels are right for you after discussing your aesthetic goals and reviewing your medical history. They examine your skin and let you know which cosmetic procedures match your personalized needs. They may recommend chemical peels, other aesthetic treatments, or more than one procedure.

What happens during chemical peels?

During chemical peels at Signature Med Spa, you relax while an aesthetic specialist gently cleans your skin. Peel solution is applied. After waiting for the solution to exfoliate, you may feel a mild stinging sensation, your Signature Med Spa specialist neutralizes or removes the peel. No numbing agent required. They may also apply a healing serum to your skin. Your skin will likely be red/tight. Peeling will begin 3-5 days post treatment and will continue for 3-5 more days. Expect dry dandruff to full flaking.

What should I expect after chemical peels?

The treated skin is often red, tender, and swollen during the healing process. It’s important to protect it from the sun, keep the treated area clean, and take medications or apply a topical serum to the treatment area if your provider asks you to.

Over the next few days and weeks, new cells begin to generate. As treated skin heals, it may crust and flake off, revealing newer, younger-looking skin cells.

You can then reap the benefits of a refreshed look and healthier skin, with fewer imperfections.
